I'm told that Katie is an absolute joy to work with. She has a smile that permiates the entire set and boundless enthusiasm
for every project that she works on yet she is completely untempermental and has a desire to work until the shot is just right.
People are usually suprised to find out that Katie is a professional actor. Katie is a card carrying member of the
Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and she has accomplished this to a large extent on her own merit with the initial help of one very
important man, Ron Layport. She has been involved in so many commercials, magazine articles, radio shows and advertising campaigns
that I've given up trying to keep track of them all. While a lot of Katie's acting involves charitable events and campaigns
she has most recently finished working on the set of the newest R.L. Stine Goosebumps production "Haunting Hours" to be released
to DVD in October of 2007. She even won the costume contest. You can look for her in the movie, she'll be the one in
the wheelchair.
Katie has taken her perceived weakness; cerebral palsy, and used it as a strength in gaining roles as a disabled actor.
Her belief is that society holds all types of people and that she has the ability to represent the 60 million people with
disabilities in the United States on the big screen. Her goal is to eventually have a leading role in a major production.
Katie's professional career jumped ahead when Nancy Mosser Casting discovered her and began to cast her into larger productions
including the "Goosebumps" movie. Although the productions are getting larger, for Katie it's not about the money but about
getting her message out that disabled does not mean unable. In fact if you ask Katie if she is disabled she'll probably tell
you that that's your perception of her not her perception of herself.
