We all have important values and ideas, things we care about and want to share. Sometimes we feel our ideas can even change the world. We are about Exceptional people; not just special needs individuals, but also those who are caregivers, mentors and friends who quietly lend a helping hand to those in need so that they  know that they are not alone in facing disability. Working together we can join in and make lives better.

This site presents Exceptional People's cause, ideas and mission. As communicating isn't always easy for everyone, we'll try to include photos and images that convey our message. We'll also include specific information for parent's of newly diagnosed children with disabilities and stories and articles about our organization and its members, so no one forgets the people behind the pictures.

Our work is important and as we have grown as caregivers so has our scope and mission. Join us in our goal of providing opportunity, information, resources, insights and stories that are helpful to other families living with disabilities.

Our current projects are just getting under way. We are renovating this split level lakefront home into the ultimate accessible home complete with voice automation and we are working in an advisory capacity with the local horse stable to provide therapeutic riding and hippotherapy services.

Heaven’s Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from earth

“It’s time again for another birth”

said the angels of the Lord above.

This special child will need much love,

His progress may seem very slow;

accomplishments he may not show.

And he’ll require much extra care

From all the folks he meets down there.

He may not laugh or run or play;

His thoughts may seem quite far away.

In many ways he won’t adapt,

And he’ll be known as ‘handicapped’.

So let’s be careful where he’s sent,

We want his life to be content.

Please, Lord, find the parents who

will do this special job for you.

They will not realize right away

The leading role they’re asked to play.

But with the child from above,

Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they’ll know the privilege given

in caring for this child from heaven-

Their precious child so meek and mild

                                               is “heaven’s very special child”.

Mission Statement

Exceptional People began as a support organization for parents of children with cerebral palsy and has continued to expand as its founders have grown into the areas of advocacy, accessible housing, education and most recently therapeutic recreational opportunity.

Our goal is to provide awareness, self determination and equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities.
